“Ready to go?” we ask Arielle Aquinas after she’s strapped on the shockcollar and locked it on. “No,” she says humorously, “but as ready as I’ll ever be, I suppose.” Her initial goal is level 15. She starts taking the shocks in a very composed manner, sitting cross-legged with her hands in her lap. After a few jolts, we can see that it affects her but mostly by how she exhales quickly. Otherwise she sits very self-contained, just nodding when she’s ready for the next shock. “I’m trying to mentally prep,” she explains, laughing. (It’s interesting to see how differently each model reacts to the situation as the series progresses.) When Arielle gets up to 17, she finally can’t help herself from exclaiming “Damn!” from the sting. When she hits twenty, she slaps her knee and says, “Whoooo, brisk!” She’s so cute! And a master of understatement, too, except when she adorably can’t restrain herself from a single “Fuck!!” at the vampire-like bite of the shock. Arielle is also determined to break all the records so far and become the champ. With her mostly Zen-like calm through this entire challenge, she might just make it!
